Next up: What to do if a fuse trips and the power goes off. Simple to deal with but not everyone knows what to do. The top takeaway from this is to label all the switches in your fuse box so you quickly know what works what. This is useful when you want to turn something off too.
Dripping taps can drive you crazy and are a real waste of water (and therefore money) so here is a quick video to take you step by step through the process to fix a leaky tap.
Last one: How to unclog a blocked loo/toilet. A pretty hideous job but we all have to do it at some point in our lives. There are lots of helpful videos on YouTube but I quite liked this one as it is short & informative and hey, I didn't even know there were different kinds of plungers!!!!
Here is a quick checklist of things you should find out first if you are want to be truly capable of stepping up to repairs when necessary:
~ Know where (and how) to turn the water off in your home
~ Know where your fuse box is and how to turn off the electricity
~ Know where the gas is and how to turn it off
~ Have a properly stocked tool box
~ Have the right plungers available (who knew!)
Obviously I can only share a few things to get you started but when it comes to basic DIY & Repairs YouTube & the Internet are your best friend. There are videos on just about anything you need to know...and several things you don't but hey, that's a different story! I hope you enjoyed these and feel a little more confident about tackling some of these jobs yourself. I'm off now to see if I can find a tool belt in turquoise.
