One of my greatest regrets in life is that I never gave birth to a child of my own blood. One of my greatest joys is that I was able to be a parent to three lovely kids when I partnered with their mother. Even though she and I are no longer together, my stepson even now is sleeping on my couch. I would like to teach him to follow through on what he says--that his word is the most important thing he can keep.

What a beautiful comment Arwen and I agree with you that following through on what you say is so important, not easy but worth working hard on. I might need to do a similar list for my son now :) xx

Beautiful post Jo! If I had a daughter, I'd want her to know all of this, plus to make laughing and joy her top goals - everything else is window dressing! xx

What a wonderful list! If I had a daughter, I think your No 100 would be my most important message. In this age of distorted self-perception and bullying amongst girls for every tiny perceived imperfection, if a girl learns that she really is beautiful inside and out, and ok and enough just as she is, she's learned the foundations of a happy and successful life.

Much love! xx
